|Description||This is a silver presentation pitcher. It is a coin silver repousse pitcher with a flower and vine design. The foot is plain with a beaded trim around the top of it. The attached handle is a floral and vine design with a bull head under the rim where the handle attaches to the lip of the pitcher. The front of the pitcher has a shield shaped area with an inscription.|
The pitcher was given to Governor John White Stevenson (1871-1877) by his friend Henry Gassaway Davis, an U.S. Senator from West Virginia. Governor Stevenson was the grandfather of the donor.
The pitcher was made by Peter L. Krider and retailed by Canfield Brothers.
