Description This is an Elizabethan Revival armchair. There is a carved crest rail with scrolls, fan, and two turned finials. The back rest has a large upholstered splat. The back supports and the legs are spiral turned. The arms are spool-turned and have upholstered rests in the middle. The chair is upholstered in a yellow and white damask. There are casters on all four legs.
Notes Elizabeth Frost inherited the chair from her grandmother, Nellie Garrard Cheatham, from Governor James Garrard's family Nellie Garrard married Dr. William Cheatham, a physician, of Louisville, Ky. Nellie Garrard Cheatham was the great-granddaughter of Governor James Garrard. James Garrard's son was Daniel Garrard, who had a son named James Henry Garrard who daughter was Nellie Garrard Cheatham.
