Description Bust portrait of Justice Robert Trimble. The portrait depicts an older gentleman with thick curly brown hair and brown eyes. He is wearing a dark brown overcoat with a white up collar dress shirt underneath. Wrapped around his neck is a fine neck scarf that has been tucked in his jacket. He has been depicted in front of a warm background of a brown colored wash.
Notes Robert Trimble (1777-1828) born in August County, Virginia he lived primarily in Kentucky acting as lawyer and jurist. He attended Transylvania University and established a law practice in Paris, Kentucky. He was member of the Kentucky Legislature in 1802. He was appointed in 1807 to the Kentucky Court of Appeals but resigned to continue his law practice. From 1816-1826 He was the United States Judge for the District of Kentucky and from 1826-28 he was an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. Trimble County, Kentucky was named in his honor.
