Description This pencil drawing is of a woman in a dress fixing her hair before a mirror. She is facing left, and leaning down to look at the rectangular mirror, which is resting on a bureau. A comb rests to the left of the mirror and a brush sits before it. The woman has a comb in her right hand, and her left hand is holding a section of her curly hair. The left half of her hair is pinned back and the bottom half of her hair hangs loose in curls.
Notes Kaign, the donor's husband's great uncle, was born in Virginia on June 16, 1833. He served as a surgeon during the Civil War.
