|Description||This coin silver teaspoon was made by Asa Blanchard. The spoon has a rounded end, down-turned straight fiddle pattern handle. The handle is engraved with a "C". There is a maker's stamp on the reverse. The base of handle has small undefined shoulders where is joins the bowl. The bowl is oval and pointed.|
This silver spoon belonged to Benjamin Combs, father of General Leslie Combs. The spoon was given to Miss Mary Barbara Lockhart (about 1916) by Mrs. Margaret Leslie Combs Walker, daughter of General Leslie Combs. Mary Barbara Lockhart presented it to the Kentucky Historical Society in 1952.
The hallmark on back (BLANCHARD) indicates it was made by Asa Blanchard who worked in Lexington from 1808-1838.
