Description This is a political button from the 1908 presidential election featuring William Jennings Bryan and John W. Kern. The object is a celluloid-process button with tinplate backing and a paper label. The front of this button has a light blue background with portraiture of Bryan on the viewer's left and Kern to the viewer's right. "BRYAN AND KERN" is printed in white on a black block following the curvature of the button on the lower portion. The back of the button features a paper backing with the following inscribed in black: "THE/ WHITEHEAD & HOAG CO./ NEWARK, N.J./ ALLIED PRINTING/ TRADES UNION LABEL COUNCIL/ NEWARK, N.J./ PATENTED JULY 17,1894/ APRIL 14, 1896. JULY 21, 1896".
