Description This is a small circular lithographed campaign button supporting Thelma Stovall. It has a blue background, and the white text: "UNIONISTS/THINK/THELMA." There is a union label below the legend. The back of the button features a straight pin enclosure
Notes Thelma L. Stovall(1919-1994) of Louisville, Jefferson County, Ky was born in Hart County, Ky. in 1919. She was the Secretary for the Tobacco Workers International Union Local 185 for 11 years. She served in the KY House of Representatives, 1950-55. She was also Secretary of state of Kentucky, 1956-60, 1964-68, 1972-75. Stovall was also State Treasurer, 1960-64, 1968-72. In addition, Stovall was Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky, 1975-79. Thelma Stovall was also a Candidate in the Democratic primary for Governor of Kentucky, in 1979.
