Description This is an impressionistic bronze of Abraham Lincoln's head. It was cast in bronze from a clay original. It is mounted on a bronze plate screwed to a walnut base. The head is slightly tilted to the left with a faint hint of smile on Lincoln's lips. He shown with a bearded chin.
Notes Robert Berks (April 26, 1922 – May 16, 2011) first rendition of Lincoln, his "Gettysburg Lincoln," was established by Congress in 1959 as the official portrait of the Lincoln Sesquicentennial year. Berks is known for his "heroic" large scale busts of Einstein, Lincoln, John Kennedy, Martin Luther King, and Harry Truman. This life size version of his heroic Lincoln was commissioned for the Kentucky History Center by the office of the Governor.
