Description This is a black paper colored box with a push button latch, lined with blue velvet. The lid has black elastic strapping holding a red blood cell pipette, a white blood cell pipette, a Bausch and Lomb counting chamber slide, and a package of small slides. The body of the box has an interior lid opening to the right and three inner compartments hold a black rubber Hausser & Son counting chamber, a glass vial of micro-hemato tubes, a metal box holding a Tiemann scalpel, a Langbein scalpel, and a stack of 11 microscope slides.
Notes Used in an office in Cadiz; used by 5 doctors between 1894-1975; Donor uncertain who purchased this equipment. Homer Blane (1873-1918) set up the office with his father Henry. Dr. J. Lacy Hopson (1883-1926) followed Blane. The donor's father, Dr. John Futrell (1899-1974) and his brother Elias (1899-1979) practised there from 1927-1974.
