Description This doll has a bisque head and shoulders, brown "sleeping" eyes with eyelashes, a open mouth with teeth, and painted eyelashes, eyebrows, cheeks, and lips. The doll has a dimple in its chin, a blond wig that is ear length, and a pink silk hair ribbon. The doll has a white kid body stuffed with sawdust and composition forearms. The doll is jointed in the middle of the thigh and at the knee. The lower legs are c composite material. The doll is wearing a blue and white cotton dress with embroidered collar, cuffs, and pocket, white cotton bloomers, broad-weave stockings, and laced brown kid shoes.
Notes According to donor, the doll belonged to his mother Elizabeth W. Thompson Gatten(b. 1908) and her sister Celeste Thompson (b. 1911), both of Lexington. The doll could also have been used by their mother Celeste Arlene Worthington (b. 1882 in Dallas, TX).
