Description This is an oil painting by Paul Sawyier, signed in the lower right hand corner. The painting depicts the house at Cave Spring Farm. The foreground consists of an open yard with large tree on the left and a grouping of trees on the right. Shadows cover most of the yard, but areas (lower left hand corner) are sunlit. In the center of the painting is a two-storey white house with green shutters. Some of the shutters are open, other are closed. There is a two-storey front porch with a triangular pediment. There are four wood square columns on each porch, and the upper level has a railing. The background (to the side and behind the house) consist of a yard, white rail fence and trees on the painting's right and other buildings on the painting's left.
Notes Commissioned by Dr. J. Leslie Davis of Philadelphia in October, 1916. The file indicates there was a 2.75 inch tear repaired lower left.
