Description This is a circular political campaign button, made by lithographic process, for George Wallace's 1968 presidential campaign. It has a blue background with a white strip that runs across the middle of the button. Within the white strip reads, "Wallace" in red print, and below the white strip reads, "FOR PRESIDENT", in white print. There are two manufacturing symbols located on the side. One symbol reads, "LPIU" and the other is illegible. It has a stickpin on the reverse side.
Notes George Wallace received 13% of the popular vote in 1968 as an independent candidate following his failure to receive the Democratic nnomination. The donor worked in the local presidential campaigns of Republican Nelson Rockefeller in 1964 and Democrat Eugene McCarthy in 1968 in Louisville.
