Description This is a John F. Kennedy political campaign hat. It is a white plastic boater hat, embossed to resemble straw. There is a wide paper band with red, white, and blue vertical stripes glued to crown. The band reads 'KENNEDY/FOR PRESIDENT". On either side of the slogan are oval black and white busts of Kennedy. Above the slogan is a line drawing of a PT 109. Below Kennedy's name is a star with "MASS" printed inside. Each of the other 49 states are printed inside individual stars around the crown. There is a large black and white bust of Kennedy at the top of the crown. The interior is unlined.
Notes John Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson defeated Vice President Richard Nixon and Henry Cabot Lodge in the 1960 presidential election.
