Description This wheelwright's mortice gauge is a roughed out rectangular stock with square holes morticed into end. There are moveable square stems in both holes. There are no wedges. There is a steel spur in each stem. There is a leather hanger screwed into the end of the stock. The other end is a rough pyramid. The piece has a very dark finish.
Notes Collected by the donor over the last 30 years from barns, storage sheds and antique stores in north central Kentucky and probably southern Indiana and Ohio as well.
