Description This is a tin hip bath. There is circular base that is about five and one-half inches deep and seventeen inches in diamter. The bottom of the base/stem is tin and is welded to the base. The rim of the tub is tin and is approximately fourteen inches from the basin to the edge. There is a seat and a soap holder (?) welded onto the inside of the rim. Under the seat is a hole that leads to a spout for draining the water. There are two tin legs with a support strut that were welded on. There is also a tin funnel-shaped bucket with the tub. There is a loop on one side for hanging.
Notes According to the donor this tub was used by the Captain T.J. Hardin family of Monterey, Kentucky.
