Description This is a wooden gavel made of oak. It is a simple design with handle and head. The head of the gavel bears eight deep engraved rings towards the edges and five more shallow rings incised toward the center.
Notes Register article 1914 Vol. 12 No. 36 pg.103 "...gavel used by South Trimble, when Speaker of the House of Representatives during the stormy, tragic Legislature in 1900. He is now Clerk of the National House of Representatives in Congress."
