Description This wooden door lock has several parts: main body, wood plate, slider, key, and four catch pins. Part a) is the main body which consists of a rectangular block carved with groves to hold catch pins and to insert a key and slider. The body measures approximately 1 3/4 inches thick. It has six holes that are drilled through the block, including one at each of the four corners. There are five horizontal grooves in the block for each catch pin. The flat side of the body, which would have been the outward facing side, shows remnants of white paint. Part b) is a wood plate. It is removed from the main body and works as a cover. There is handing writing on one side and a date "Jo Co[x] Feby. 7th 1886." A slider c) slider sits in one of the two vertical groves of the body; it is roughly rectangular with five square cutouts facing toward the pins. There's a slit through wood to fit over wood peg embedded in block. The slider is removable. The key d) is a wooden key is used to latch/unlatched the pins. It has a long shaft with five teeth for adjusting the pins. The handle is smooth and rectangular. There are four catch pins e-h). One catch pin is missing, the other 4 measure approximately 1/2 in x 3 in x 5/8 in. The catch pins are removable and rectangular with a rectangular cutout section.
