Date ca. 1900
Material(s) Wool/Silk

Description This wool and silk challis has a modified floral and geometric design with gold, cream, red, and pink. The warp is a gold silk. There is a large stylized sun at the center created by both warp and weft of the gold silk. The surrounding design is segmented into oval and round designs with additional patterns between them. There is a four inch border of flowers, bowls and paisleys. The sides of this piece have raw edges. The short ends are cut. The upper edge is cut off before the end of the pattern and before the border. Consequently, the central sun is not really at center. The piece is very worn with large holes, fading, stains and tears.
