This is a hand carved breakfront, with a base, top, and Italian marble countertop. The base has two large cabinet doors, and two compartments on each side with smaller doors. The side doors have glass. The bottom doors hinged at the bottom and folded down. They are detached, and stored in the sideboard with other pieces and hinges. The carvings are ornate, of flowers, leaves, animals, fish, people on horses, and geometric designs. Even the brass pulls are ornate, with a hand holding a hammer. There is also a bag of random blocks of wood.
The top is a columned, mirrored hutch. It has two shelves on each side and an open center with a mirror. It is also covered in ornate carvings, including fruit, bugs, animals, bottles, a tea cup, a barrel, and flower pots. One one side is carved "May 1887" and on the other "LA Hughes"
|Notes||Hand carved by Lily A. and Russell M. Hughes, Sr., of Jefferson County, in the 1890s. Hughes was a vinegar and softdrink manufacturer.|
