Description This effigy pot is made of red clay. It is sand and grit tempered. It has an oval body, rounded base, and 4 c-shaped "legs" on sides. The front has a human head effigy. On the back is a two inch round opening.
Notes Mississippian Period (AD 900-1700). Old note with pot says "Effigy pot, animal body, human head, Western, KY. area, Culture Mississippian.? Jennie Green Collection. Falls of Rough, KY."
