Description This is five images in an article about Mammoth cave that is on the front and back with a title on the top called "Ballou's Pictorial Drawing-Room Companion" from 1855. The image at the top left is entitled "Entrance of Gothic Avenue" and has a huge opening with huge columns at the left and a walk way in the center with rails and five people walking on it, three at the bottom and two at the top. The image at the top right is entitled "The Bottomless Well" and has levels of rock with the bottom having a ramp connected to the floor and a man at the top of it, while three people are on the top level. There is a wood structure at the right of the image. The center image is entitled "The Dead Sea" and has a circular opening with three people walking up a hill at the left while two others are standing at the bottom looking out into a body of water. In the body of water there are two small boats with a bunch of people in them and some holding torches. The image at the bottom left is entitled "Hall of Stalagmites" and has several columns and stalagtites hanging from the ceiling with three people in the background. The image at the bottom right is entitled "The Star Chamber" and has five people standing in a large open area with cliffs on both sides and stars in the sky. There is a small rock formation in the foreground.
Notes Structure at right of "Gothic Ave" view is remains of one of 3 towers for pumping soltpetri nitrate water to surface.
