Description This medical thermometer is glass with a silver tip and black and red markings. The thermometer sits inside a plastic black, pen-like case that has a metal clasp on the cap that screws off. The box is royal blue, navy, and gray with text that advertises the contents. The label reads "ASEPTO/ Certified/ FEVER/ THERMOMETER/ MANUFACTURED BY BECTION, DICKINSON & CO. RUTHERFORD, N.J.."

Notes Used by Dr. William H. Gibson, grandfather of donor. Gibson graduated from University of Louisville Medical School in 1907. He returned home to Lerose in Owsley County to practise, later moving to Booneville in the 1920s. Gibson also owned a farm and was president of Farmers State Bank from 1931-1953.
