Description This is an advertising medallion from the Green River Distillery. The piece is a circular medallion with a loop for attaching the piece to a ribbon sitting at the top. The obverse has a image of a man holding the reins for a horse or donkey. Attached to the animal's saddle is a jug marked "GREEN RIVER." The inscription surrounding the image says "SHE WAS/ BRED/ IN OLD/ KENTUCKY." The reverse bears the following inscription: "THE OFFICIAL WHISKEY OF THE U.S. MARINE HOSPITAL SERVICE/ HIGHEST AWARDS/ PARIS 1900/ ST. LOUIS 1904/ LEIGE 1905/ PORTLAND 1905/ MILAN, ITALY 1906/ JAMESTOWN/ 1907." There is a maker's mark at the bottom that reads "S.D. CHILDS & CO. CHICAGO."
