Description This is a brass plated kerosene reservoir with a brass filling hole. The burner assembly screws into the reservoir, which has a lightly embossed decorative pattern on the top. The burner is of brass with duples, ie. a dual wicking system, with two knobs to adjust the wicks. A guard around the top of the burner has scalloped metal work to hold the globe. There is also a perforated ringlet pattern below globe holding that metalwork.
Notes Kerosene didn't become readily available until after the civil war. The burner pot fit into a larger unit, but could not be removed for ease of filling and cleaning.
