Description This is a walnut balloon back side chair upholstered in a reproduction rose damask fabric. The chair has a plain rounded balloon back with a small swag on the cross rail. The seat frame is molded and has a small swag in the front center. The seat fabric has a matching gimping trim. The legs are stylized cabriole with a straight foot. At the bottom of the foot is a brass beaded ring. The front feet have brass casters. The back legs are plain curved legs.
Notes Mrs. Rosa B. Covington inherited this piece, which is part of a 14 piece parlour set, from Margaretta Mason Brown Barret, the granddaughter of Senator John Brown and Margaretta Mason Brown and the daughter of Mason Brown and Mary Yoder Brown who inherited Liberty Hall from John Brown. The set was used in Liberty Hall, supposedly purchased originally in New Orleans by the Brown family.
