Description This is a continental jack plance with a boxwood stock. It has a forward "horn" handle mortised into the forward lip and face of stock. There is a standard smoothing wedge and there are lines inscribed on the stock sides at the level of the lip. The sides of the top, heel, and face are chamfered.
Notes Also called German pattern: produced in U.S. but not popular with American craftsmen. Collected by the donor from antique stores, barns, etc. in southern Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky over the last thirty years.
