Description This is an adjustable bobbin used for fishing. It has two wooden ends attached to a quill or reed body. One end has a wire loop and the other has a wire wrap that spirals around the tip.
Notes William D. VanAntwerp was a Mt. Sterling dentist who became good friends with Dr. J.A. Henshall, author of Book of the Black Bass. At Henshall's request, Dr. VanAntwerp designed or modified a baitcasting reel, later marketed by T.H. Chubb & Son as the Henschall VanAntwerp reel.
