Description This is a "Triple Irish Chain" quilt. The quilt is made of cotton fabric, and it has a white background with red and white "chains" crossing throughout the quilt. The chains are made out of red and white one-inch squares. The rows of chains are separated by a white background field. The quilting is in rows less that 3/8" apart. The quilt has a triple red stripe border with each red stripe (1 1/4" wide) separated by a white stripe that is one inch wide. There is a red binding tape and a white cotton backing fabric. There is a very thin layer of batting--if there is any batting at all. Pencil marks are visible behind the quilting.
Notes This quilt was cut, pieced, and quilted by Nancy Field McClanahan (1824-1902) wife of Minor McClanahan of Berlin, Bracken County, Kentucky and daughter of Charles and Nancy Elliott Field of Fairquirer County, Va.
