Description This is a hand-made model of a corn sled. It has runners made of thick sticks and sides make of carved wood. Staples have been used to stablize it.
Notes A corn sled was a home made sledge used to gather harvested corn. Corn was one of the last of the grain crops to be completely mechanized. Most Kentucky farmers continued to pick their corn by hand, throwing it into a wagon or a corn sled as they advanced through the rows, until the 1930s and beyond.
