Description This is a silver spray-painted tobacco planter. It has a red metal and wood handle. There is a tinplate water cylinder welded to a tinplate seedling chute. Pulling the spring loaded trigger below the handle opens conical jaws at the bottom of the chute to release seedling into a hole poked by the jaws. The water valve opens in water cylinder releasing the water.
Notes The donor's husband Chester Bryant Chandler collected tobacco tools and tools in general. This planter came from the farm operated by his grandfather Chester Bryant and his father Victor Chandler on Scott's Station Road.
