Description This is a fabric sewing roll, one side has a brown on cream chintz shell, while the opposite side has seven interior pockets made of six cotton prints, with two pockets made from the same print. There are two dark green wool needle flaps at the end nearest the label.
Notes Probably made by Catherine Spears Fry Carpenter, born in Rockingham Co., VA., c. 1760, died in Casey Co., KY, on April 1, 1848. We have several of her weaving patterns and dye formulae in the KHS Library. Also see Carpenter in surname file in KHS Library.
