Description This Rococo Revival side chair is part of a fourteen piece parlor set. The crest has an open and a closed rose and upward curved waves. The pierced splat has a solid piece at center with a pentagon shape. The apron is decorated with a flower at front. The same flower is repeated on the top of the front legs which are a cabriole style. The rear legs are plain. The seat is upholstered in rose damask. The bottom is covered in black cotton fabric.
Notes Mrs. Rosa B. Covington inherited this piece, which is part of a 14 piece parlour set, from Margaretta Mason Brown Barret, the granddaughter of Senator John Brown and Margaretta Mason Brown and the daughter of Mason Brown and Mary Yoder Brown who inherited Liberty Hall from John Brown. The set was used in Liberty Hall, supposedly purchased originally in New Orleans by the Brown family.
