Description This hand sewn block pattern quilt is made of wool, cotton and linen. The obverse has a black wool field with large blocks of in reds at the center. It is constructed of non-uniform pieces. At center is a 25 ½ and 22 ½ inch red block formed from two wide pieces of fabric. The fabric is red with a small black star print. On each side of the center block is a long rectangle shaped block of the black wool. At each corner is a seven inch square in the red/black fabric. The next row has a red and brown plaid laid in the same manner as the black rectangles, bordered by a black square in addition to the red square. The border around the design is about 16 inches wide. The reverse is a printed linen fabric with a brown background and stylized flowers. There is no batting and no edging/binding. The two layers are quilted with a plain square pattern with black thread.
Notes The quilt belonged to the donor's family.
