Description This large pipe bowl is carved from soapstone. It has three figures (bust view) on the bowl all facing forward. The figures seem to be male with little detail except stoic faces and short curly hair. Arms are tucked to their sides in a primitive fashion. Below each figure is an inscription. In order they read: left figure, "Crockett"; center, "Travis"; right, "Bowie." There are also three inscriptions on the stem. On top is "San Antonio," on one side is "Alamo" and on the other is "Bexar." Around the staron the back are the letters "T [space] E [space] X [space] A [space] S."
Notes According to records, this pipe was presented to Dr. William Morris, father of the donor Mrs. Emma Morris Saffell. Who presented it is not known at this time.
