Description This is a wooden mule. It has a brown wooden body with a black stripe down the back. Its cord tail is missing. It has turned brown legs (with black hooves) corded into holes in the base of the body. The turned neck and carved head are corded into a hole in front of the body. The head has leather ears and black velvet mane, red mouth and nose and dark glass eyes.
Notes Belonged to donor's uncle, Clifton Lewis Thompson, Jr.(9/14/1904--9/25-1963), of Lexington. Thompson grew up to be a laundry executive. Albert Schoenhut's Humpty-Dumpty Circus was introduced in 1903. The Company failed in 1935.
