Description This small white lace cape or capelet is triangular in shape with a rounded edge at the back rather than a point. The lace is a floral pattern with a small wreath at center and a scalloped edge. There are two hand sewn darts at the shoulder areas. A narrow collar of a lighter colored lace with a different pattern is attached to the front edge. It is hand sewn on.
Notes According to records, this capelet was used about 1845 by Mrs. Ann E. Viley Johnson, the wife of Kentucky's first Confederate Governor George Johnson.
