Description This chromolithograph on paper is of the Black-throated Blue Warbler and Bluegrey Flycatcher from the Bien Edition of Audubon's Birds of America. The image on the left is of the Black- throated Blue Warbler. No.8-7, Plate 95. It depicts a blue, black and white bird perched upon a pink and yellow flowered plant. The legend at the bottom reads: " Drawn from Nature by J.J. Audubon, F,R,S. F,L,S. / Black-throated Blue Warbler / Sylvia Canadensis. Lath. / Male / Canadian Columbine Aquilegia canadensis". The image on the right is of the Bluegrey Flycatcher. No. 8-7, Plate 70. It depicts two small blue-gray birds with black tails sitting on a black walnut tree with hanging blooms. The legend at the bottom reads: "Chromolithy. by J. Bien, New York 1860 / Bluegrey Flycatcher / Muscicapa Coerulea, Wils. / Male, 1. Female, 2. / Black Walnut. Juglans nigra". There are two signatures located on the back in ink that read: "Bart A. Brown" and "Nina M. Visscher".
Notes Audubon was born in 1785 and died in 1851. Bien was born in 1826 and died in 1909.
