|Description||This is a plaster bust of Judge George Robertson (1780-1874). It shows him looking to the viewer's left. He has a stern face and is slightly frowning. His hair is wavy and is long in the back but swept back on the top. He is draped in the classical style.|
"M. Pouden (Mahlon Pruden) Sculp. 1848" is carved on the back.
George Robertson was a lawyer, speaker of the Kentucky House, Kentucky secretary of state, congressman, and chief justice of the Kentucky Court of Appeals. A prominent Whig politician, he and Abraham Lincoln became friends in the 1840s but later clashed over the Emancipation Proclamation.
