Description This is a plaster bust of Judge George Robertson (1780-1874). It shows him looking to the viewer's left. He has a stern face and is slightly frowning. His hair is wavy and is long in the back but swept back on the top. He is draped in the classical style.
Notes "M. Pouden (Mahlon Pruden) Sculp. 1848" is carved on the back.

George Robertson was a lawyer, speaker of the Kentucky House, Kentucky secretary of state, congressman, and chief justice of the Kentucky Court of Appeals. A prominent Whig politician, he and Abraham Lincoln became friends in the 1840s but later clashed over the Emancipation Proclamation.
