The "Democrats Together '83" slogan was used in the state elections of Kentucky in 1983. The Democratic ticket was led by Martha Layne Collins. Collins was the state's 56th governor from 1983 to 1987, winning the election in 1983. Prior to her election as governor, she was the 48th Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky, under John Y. Brown, Jr.
Steven L. Beshear was a member of the Kentucky State House of Representatives for the 76th District beginning in 1974. He was also the state's Attorney General from 1980 to 1983, and served as the 49th Lieutenant Governor from 1983 to 1987 under Martha Layne Collins.
This object was donated on December 30, 1986 by Drexell R. Davis. Davis, a self-described "Yellow Dog" Democrat, held several elected positions in the Kentucky state government. His thirty-three years of public service prompted his interest in collecting political memorabilia.
