Description This is a narrow beech stock hollow plane with a narrow shoulder on the right. It has hollow profile sole and iron (Concave). The single iron is shouldered and is held in place with a standard wedge. The maker's mark is stamped in toe.
Notes Howland, a banker, was in partnership with Nelson and C.P. Fitch, Edward Myderse, and C.N. Tuttle. The company made planes with contract labor at Auburn State Prison 1869-1874.
