Description This is a political button from the 1912 presidential election. The object is a celluloid-process button with tinplate backing and no label. The front of the button features a central horizontal white stripe that covers approximately 1/3 the button's surface. The remaining top and bottom portions of the button are blue. "TAFT" is printed in blue on the horizontal white stripe. The "ALLIED PRINTING/ TRADES UNION LABEL COUNCIL/ CHICAGO" stamp and "232" are also printed in blue below Taft's name in a white block that extends below the main white stripe. The back of the button features what appears to be two embossed three leaved shamrocks within a circle.
Notes William Howard Taft and James Sherman were Teddy Roosevelt's hand picked successors in 1908, defeating William Jennings Bryan and John Kern.
