Description This is a woman's wire bustle. It is made of a wire frame, with a cotton cover exterior. There are four main supports for the bustle, and one long piece of twill ribbon that connects them in the middle. There are two twill straps attached to one side, with metal hardware on the end of one of the straps. White cotton lace trim connects the bustle frame and the twill straps. There are two springs located on either end of the bustle and a cotton string through one of them. There are several metal grommets throughout. It appears to be machine-stitched, with white cotton thread.
Notes This is from the Eleanor Parker Hopkins Collection, of New York, NY, circa. 1920. Ms. Hopkins was a costume researcher for the movie industry.
