Description This is a dado plane. Unidentified wooden stock with inverted shoulder on left. Front and rear edges above shoulder are chamfered, top side edges are rounded. Cutting iron in middle is skewed and shouldered, appears to be of wrought iron, and its wedge is carved and non-standard. It has a double spur iron in front at 90 degrees to stock with standard wedge. There is a wooden depth stop morticed through shelf on left. It has a curved open shavings outlet.
Notes Used to cut grooves across the grain. Collected by the donor over the last thirty years from barns, storage sheds, and antique stores in north central Kentucky and probably southern Indiana and Ohio as well.
