Description This is a campaign button for the republican candidates Richard M. Nixon for President and Henry Cabot Lodge for Vice President in the 1960 presidential campaign. The button is a lithographic process in red, white and blue. The top banner is red with the word "NIXON" in white lettering across the banner. The middle narrow banner is white with seven blue stars across the banner. The bottom banner is blue with the word "LODGE" in white lettering across the banner. The back has a metal stickpin built into the rim of the tinplate.
Notes The United States presidential election of 1960 was the 44th quadrennial presidential election. The Republican Party nominated incumbent Vice-President Richard Nixon with Henry Cabot Lodge as his running mate, while the Democratic Party nominated John F. Kennedy, Senator from Massachusetts and Lyndon B. Johnson, his running mate. Kennedy and Johnson won the election.
