He is also wearing a red sash across his chest, a black stock; and white shirt. His left hand is holding a sheathed sword. The sword has a gold hilt and is in a black scabbard. There is a green-brown background to the portrait.
Notes Charles Scott (1739-1813) was governor of Kentucky from 1808 to 1812.
