Description This is a late 19th century woman's bustle. It is made of wire supports, with a white cotton exterior cover. There are several metal grommets throughout, as well as two twill straps. On the underside of the bustle, there are three twill support bands. There are hand-stitched repairs on the top of one of the metal supports, in two places (done white cotton fabric and white cotton thread). An additional twill strap runs along the outer bottom edge of the bustle frame.
Notes This is from the Eleanor Parker Hopkins Collection, of New York, NY, circa. 1920. Ms. Hopkins was a costume researcher for the movie industry.
