Description This is a tinplate food grater. The tin sheet is folded into an open ended iron rectangular box. The top and bottom rims are reinforced with wire. Each side of the grater is punched with a different pattern: multiple tiny round teeth, small square teeth, forty raised round cutters, and a single raised curved slicer.
Notes The University of Kentucky began collecting in 1957 for the Kentucky Life Museum, an endeavor to "provide a permanent place for the hundreds of articles that have had a bearing upon the way people in Kentucky lived and worked..." Eventually, Waveland entered the Kentucky State Park System and was reinterpreted as a house museum. These artifacts were transfered as part of that reinterpretation.
