Description This is a full size sleigh bed. Parts (a, b) the footboard and headboard scrolls are topped with simple rosettes. The head and footboards are divided in half by molding and the molding and panels are not embellished. Sections (c, d) are gently curved side panels with flat sided "vase" shaped feet. It also has six wooden slats.
Notes Family tradition holds that this bed was made by the inmates of the Kentucky State Prison. It remained with the decendants of Alfred Carter Rouse who had lived near Peach Grove, Pendleton County, Kentucky until moving to Missouri, c. 1875.
