Description This is a large wooden chest. It is covered with deerhide, which has been secured by iron strips nailed down at the corners and along edges. The iron strips are decorrated in places with triangles and circles in a pattern. It has iron handles secured by wrought iron pikes. It has an iron lock with a latch mortised into the front, and leather hinges on the back. The interior is lined with brown paper.
Notes Old card: "Deer-hide trunk, brought from Virginia to Ohio County, Kentucky, about 1800 by Wm. Taylor".
