Description This is pencil sketch of a rural scene. On the left is a field surrounded by a split rail fence. In the center is a railroad track with a wagon on it. Next to the track is a man leading a horse toward the wagon. There is a large tree in the foreground on the right along with another field surrounded by a split rail fence. In the background is a house with a woman standing in the door. There is another main on a horse on the horizon in the center.
Notes Samuel Kaighn, the artist, was born in Virginia on June 16, 1833. He served as a surgeon during the Civil War.
